mediation and connecting with the earth
and a way to grow local, organic food to
be enjoyed later in the summer. In this
newsletter I will share with you some
interesting gardening ideas and yoga
stretches to get you through the
gardening season.

Growing Quinoa
As a
foodie, I love to grow lots of fresh
vegetables and
herbs in my garden. This year I am
particularly excited about growing my
own protein source. Did you know you
could grow your own
quinoa? Do you know what
quinoa is?
A recently rediscovered ancient "grain"
native to Central America, quinoa was once
called "the gold of the Incas," who
recognized its value in increasing the
stamina of their warriors. Not only is
quinoa high in protein, but the protein it
supplies is complete protein, meaning that
it includes all nine essential amino acids.
Not only is quinoa's amino acid profile well
balanced, making it a good choice for vegans
concerned about adequate protein intake, but
quinoa is especially well-endowed with the
amino acid lysine, which is essential for
tissue growth and repair
Back to growing your own
quinoa. You can place them at the black
of a flower bed for extra colour and then
harvest them late in the summer to fall for
the delicious grain. Have fun with this one!
Once you have grown your quinoa, here are a
list of
quinoa recipes to keep you going!

A Special Message to my former clients
at Roos
As most of you know Roos Family Fitness
was evicted from their location on
Harwood Ave. in Ajax in April. I assure
you, this was as much as a surprise to
me as it was to you. The new tenants of
the space are Good Life Gym.
I met with the fitness coordinator of Good
Life Gym following Roos eviction to discuss
the possibility of continuing my teaching at
that location. Unfortunately Good Life
requires "exclusivity" from their
instructors, meaning that I would not be
allowed to teach anywhere else. Obviously it
would not be a fiscally responsible decision
to limit my teaching to one location. I miss
meeting with you all twice a week and would
love to teach you again at the Wellness
Connection in Ajax or Hands on Health
Care in Whitby. Many of my clients from
Roos gym have already joined us there. I
would love to see you again too.
