I have been doing lifestyle coaching with Melissa since June of 2007, and in five short months, I cannot believe all the positive changes that have taken place in my life. What is amazing to me, is that Melissa pulls things out of you that you thought were impossible! She has coached me on my job, helping me to resolve a problem that had me discombobulated, and I swore could never be resolved; she gently guided me to utilize the talents and skills that are particular to me; skills and talents that I have possessed all along, but just couldn’t see, or recognize. It’s like meeting a “new” me!

Melissa has been working with me, as my lifestyle coach, for over 7 months. During this short period of time, Melissa has enabled me to successfully achieve several lifestyle changes that I never dreamed were even possible. I originally started working with Melissa in hopes of changing my diet. However, I quickly and easily changed my diet and have since moved on to improving other aspects of my life like incorporating exercise into my schedule, reducing stress, effectively maintaining a household and creating balance in my life. When I first decided to do lifestyle coaching I was doing it to lose weight after having my first child. Always being an athlete, then getting pregnant and gaining over 50 lbs, then having our lovely daughter put me into a whirlwind of highs and lows. It was time for me to take control, adjust to being a new mom and to bring balance back into my life again. I was highly motivated to lose weight and quickly learned that weight loss is so much more than just what goes into your mouth and instead that there are a lot of things that lead to weight gain. I wanted a healthy lifestyle and to do so I had to eliminate stress; not an easy feat for a new mom but with Melissa's help she gave me the tools to lose 20 pounds in 5 months and to get my life on track. I have enjoyed my new lifestyle of vitality, health and happiness. My life is forever changed and I am truly grateful as are my husband and daughter. At the end of my 5 months I continue to lose weight and implement Melissa's tools and tricks to help me to live a balanced life. I set a goal with Melissa to run in a 5K race and I accomplished that goal. Next is the 10K! The possibilities are endless.

If you can believe it, the conversation that lead into my lifestyle coaching sessions with Dr. West, all began with talk about making cupcakes for my wedding! This conversation led into my stress over wanting to slim down before my wedding, which at that time was about 7 months away. As every women has, I had tried all the traditional solutions - from dieting to random exercise, and let's be honest....just hoping it would fall off from the stress of planning the wedding, without any real effort on my part. Dr. West and I began weekly calls, where I very quickly realized that weight loss is about so much more than eating salads for a week to trim some weight. Through our calls, we discussed items such as sleeping patterns, variation and regularity of exercise, meal planning, food & drink selections, eating breakfast and snack drawer's! What I especially appreciated was to not necessarily eliminate all the bad stuff (i.e., snacking during the day while at work - put healthier items in a snack drawer, instead of walking to the vending machine!) but to look for alternatives, or decrease the intake amounts and balance with an active but balanced lifestyle. After 7 months of life coaching (which included personal coaching when wedding stresses got to their peak!), I lost over 10 pounds and slid right into my wedding dress on that most important day in my life.
