Yoga Classes
I work with a small group of committed students who are interested in deepening their study of yoga to include philosophy, intention, full-bodied experience, and integration into their day to day lives.
Philosophy
Recognize that yoga comes from a larger tradition and history. By drawing on the spiritual texts of yoga from Patanjali's Yoga Sutras to the Bhagavadgita, we create a conscious lifestyle that brings about profound spiritual and personal transformation.
Intention
Creating a sankalpa is a simple, clear, present moment, affirmative statement created with reverence and sincerity of what you would like to receive by practicing yoga, giving your practice meaningful purpose. This intention will resonates with your essence with acceptance and consent, is congruent with your values, is self-initiated and self-maintained, serves you in your life, and is for the benefit of all.
Inner Alignment
As important to the physical alignment of our bodies is our inner alignment. Are we breathing? Is my attention focused on what’s happening in the present moment?
Yoga
Yoga is an embodied spiritual practice which connects all the layers (koshas) of our being from our physical bodies, breath, emotions, thoughts, to our innermost spirit into a unified whole. Yoga facilitates a process of self-awareness which allows us to remember our true nature – our innate goodness and worthiness. We recognize our abundance by simply consciously receiving what has already been given. From that place of knowing we recognize interdependence and connection with all of life therefore through our thoughts, words and action (karma), we strive to create happiness and freedom for all.
Integration
As important as what happens on the mat is how we carry our practice out into the world.
