Alligators in the Everglades

Yesterday as we visited the alligators in the Florida everglades I was reminded how much an alligator spine is like a human spine. So the next time you practice cat pose, imagine that your spine is fluid and bendy like an alligator tale. If you look at images of an alligator spine it looks much like a human spine. We have a rib cage just like an alligator and our thoracic spine is attached to our rib cage just like an alligators. The alligator even has a lumbar spine above a small pelvis like us. The difference is that they have a spine that extends into a tail and a lower part of the spine is much more free and fluid than anything we have! You could imagine that your whole spine is as free and fluid as an alligator tail as your practice cat pose.
