Today’s class is about accessing your own bold strength. Through accessing your muscular power and vigor in today’s class you will also find mental, emotional and spiritual courage, power and fortitude. What does it mean to you to have strength? Where do you feel strength in your body?

This hatha yoga class is a beginner yoga class for strength. Throughout this class you will cultivate strength in your legs, your back, your arms, and of course your core. We will practice poses like bridge pose and chair pose to connect with the strength in your legs. Cobra and table pose to build strength in your back. Several variations of plank pose as well as boat pose will be practiced for core strength. Finally we will practice a modified chaturanga for strength in your biceps, triceps, shoulders and chest.

Bold Strength by Danna Faulds

The clematis vine
outgrew its trellis
long ago. It vines
around the gladiola
leaves and peonies
seeking something
tall to climb.

I too, outgrew the
place where I was
planted and sought
a structure to bear
me up until
I found my own bold strength
