Today’s question comes from Lorelei from FB: Hey Melissa,
Wondered if you might have a good recipe for a breakfast protein shake (I don’t have a juicer, just a blender or food processor) involving no bananas, or grapefruit? Looking for something to make mornings easier & healthier. Do you use any of the “greens” powders at all-or know if one is fairly “clean”. Thanks, Lorelei


Hi Lorelei
A great substitute for banana in smoothies to get that “smooth” consistency are papaya or mango 🙂 Tropical smoothies with papaya, mango, strawberries, apple (for sweetness) and lots of greens (kale, spinach, collards are great choices in smoothies) can be quite yummy. As far as green powders that are clean we are big fans of Vega in our house. It is very clean. I recently looked at Sun Warrior protein powder at the health food store and was really impressed with their line as well and have been thinking of trying it also. I think it is definitely on par if not better than Vega.
