How can you increase your ability to balance in poses like tree pose or dancer pose?

Donna Roach from Facebook: How can you increase your ability to balance in poses like tree pose or dancer pose? I find that if I am very calm and focussed it helps somewhat.

Great question Donna. The key to good standing postures is focus and core stability. I have two videos on this on Namaste Yoga. One is a video called Drishti. The other is about the bandhas. When you find a point to focus on it will really help you stay focussed and balanced as you say 🙂 Also when you engaged your bandhas from mula bandha through udhiyana bandha right through to jalandarha bandha you will have core strength right through your body to be able to have the strength you need internally to be in the posture. Remember balancing postures are about movement so it is not about “holding” the posture. You will always move in and out of balance in a balancing posture.
