Hydrating Juice for after my Workout

Post-Workout-Hydrating-JuiceMy good friend and colleague Terri at Perfect Form asked for a juice recipe for after exercise. Here is what I came up with for her.

Both cucumbers and celery are over 90% water and contain several electrolytes to help restore the body’s cells. Celery is also great for lowering high blood pressure which would be great post-workout. You can add to the great detoxifying effect of your lymphatic system post-workout by juicing celery since celery also helps to detoxify carcinogens. Lemons contain four out of six electrolytes and pear, in addition to providing a hint of sweetness, has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits that together, reduce muscle soreness, inflammation and oxidative stress. High body temperatures, sweating and dehydration cause potassium levels to drop after you work out, however pear is a great source of potassium so will help to reduce cramps and muscle spasms caused by lack of potassium.

Post Workout Hydrating Juice Recipe

1 cucumber
1 pear
3 stalks of celery
1/2 lemon (peeled if not organic)
