Yoga for Airplanes

Today’s question comes to us from Deborah from E-mail Do you have any recommendations for an 8 hour night flight in economy? I do walk around every so often, but a few seat poses would be good.

I think it is a great idea to focus on keeping your body stretched and moving while travelling on a plane. Here are some suggestions for yoga postures on a plane. Starting at your feet, take your shoes off and just point and flex your feet as well as rotate your ankles. Moving up your body, cross your ankle over your thigh and lean forward for a seated keyhole stretch. Seated twists are a great way to keep your digestive system and internal organs happy while you travel. Cow’s face arm’s are a nice way to keep your upper back stretched out in your seat. If you lean forward on your seat you can clasp your hands behind your back and open up your chest. Sitting in economy gives you plenty of room for neck stretches. Remember your breathing exercises. How about a little bit of 3-part breathing? All of these can be a great way to stay sane on a long flight in a cramped space.
