Prenatal Yoga Yoga Helps Expectant Moms Deal with Depression

A new article explains that yoga helps expectant mothers deal with depression. Mindfulness yoga may help reduce depression in pregnant women, according to a University of Michigan Health System study. The findings were published in Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice Journal.

Pregnancy hormones can dampen moods. In fact 1 in 5 experience pregnant women experience major depression.

The study involved a 10-week mindfulness yoga program. The results of the study showed reductions in depressive symptoms of the participants as well as  stronger attachment to their babies in the womb.

This is great news because pregnant woman are often reluctant to take pharmaceutical drugs when they are pregnant and are looking for alternative therapeutic approaches to depression such as prenatal yoga.

I offer a prenatal yoga video in my shop.
